What is UDC and why?
Union Digital Center is a state-of-the-art IT-based Information and Knowledge Center (Telecentre) established by the Union Council with the objective of ensuring access to information services to the people at the grassroots level. From this centre, people in rural areas can easily get life and livelihood information and necessary services in a familiar environment near their homes.
On 11 November 2010, Hon'ble Prime Minister from his Office and Miss Helen Clark, Administrator of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and former Prime Minister of New Zealand, from the Char Kukrimukri Union of Bhola Zeller via video conference All Union Digital Centers (UDCs) were inaugurated together. About 4 million people receive information and services from these centers every month.
The Union Digital Center (UDC) has started to bring about a massive positive change in the quality of life of the local people through easy, fast and low cost access to government and non-government services.
The journey of the Union Digital Center (UDC) began with Mlogan in front of 'Service at Doorsteps' The establishment of UDC has made it possible to create a free flow of information in every sphere of society and state system, where people are not going from door to door for services, but services are reaching people's hearts. Free flow of information is one of the prerequisites for people's empowerment
The establishment of Union Digital Centers (UDCs) in 4,501 Union Councils in the country has facilitated faster access to information and services with participation in free flow of information to the rural people.
